| a lift and feel for the sise to side up and down of the drive shaft on either side of the carrier bearing, Also look for the rotted rubber surround as that is what usualy goes. If you do the carrier bearing and the rubber surround keep track of how the parts come off and replace exactly the same. This is accomplished by indexing the parts with some dabs of paint. Also note the location of the large look like washers at the main support bracket bolts, They are spacers to give the drive shaft proper angle. You can also check the condition of the 4 universal joints by rocking them in all positions. With age they get flat spots that can be felt. If minor don't concern over it. If alot of looseness the joints are bad and are not replaceable. Some drive shaft shops will make you a complete driveshaft but the cost might be close to a factory 2 oiece drive shaft. Some will suggest a 1 piece but they can be problamatic with vibration. Regardless of what you do with the driveshaft replace the rear tranny isolater mount. They sag (and still may look OK) with time and the driveshaft alignment gets out of spec.
